Position & Key Role: Utilities Design Draughtsperson – Generate and deliver accurate mechanical engineering drawings & engineering support to our Engineers, timeously and to our standards
Key Responsibilities: The incumbent will fulfil the role of Utilities Design Draughtsperson, which is a position that will develop strong and aligned drawing & technical skills and competencies and will require the ability to interpret an Engineer’s/Drawing Manager’s brief into usable drawings.
The Utilities Design Draughtsperson role will include but are not limited to:
- Quickly learn our systems and processes
- Must be able to generate accurate & readable hand sketches.
- Drawing up P&ID’s (Process & Instrumentation Diagrams) and PFD’s (Process Flow Diagrams), from Engineers brief
- Equipment block layouts for space planning
- Detailing pressure vessel drawings & checking fabricators drawings against our own for correctness
- Creating workable 3D equipment & piping models and generating 2D G.A’s for Engineers review.
- Assist in developing the current drawing office standards and 3D libraries & specs.
- Be able to create a bill of material from a set of drawings
- Drawing up of sketches & standards
- Creating & maintaining drawing registers
- Travel to site to capture dimensional info and photos, be able to on site plan equipment layout & pipe routing
- Keeping track of project hours on timesheets

Qualifications & Experience:
Matric as a minimum, with excellent results in mathematics and English.
A certificate in mechanical draughting from a recognized Autodesk training centre.
Demonstrate competency with generating and/or reading technical drawings.
Familiarity with AutoCAD software tools is a requirement.
Personal maturity and strong inter-personal skills, with the ability to cooperate and collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience in the field of mechanical & piping draughting is a requirement, with a minimum of 5 years working experience.
The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence and one’s own vehicle.
The candidate must hold a valid SA Identity document and an SA or Foreign passport.
